Autumn schools

The Czech Summer school “Managing risks and risk assessment at work”.

Ostrava, 13th to 17th September, 2021

The summer school planned in June 2020 was cancelled due to COVID pandemic.

The alternate date for the summer school was set for May 2021. The COVID situation prevented organization of a face-to-face event. Practical trainings in companies were not possible. The Summer school was therefore switched to online mode with practical trainings on case studies. However, the May term was cancelled due to limited number of participants.The summer school was postponed to September 2021.

The Summer school was organized by VSB – Technical University of Ostrava (VSB). Other project partners will be included as lecturers/trainers.

The objectives are focused on a development of the following student´s competence:

  • Deepen knowledge in the area of (occupational) risk management.
  • Practise risk assessment at workplace.
  • Share knowledge and build network among students.
  • Develop cultural awareness and open-mindedness.
  • Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience interactive and collaborative learning.

International lecturers from the following organizations was involved in the Summer school:

  • VSB (Czech Republic),
  • UMinho (Portugal),
  • The Austrian Workers' Compensation Board – AUVA (Austria) and
  • HSE professionals from external organisations.

The Portuguese Summer school “Occupational Risk Management: A Practical Approach”

27th September – 1st October, 2021

 

The Summer school was switched to online mode due to Covid 19.

The Summer school was organized by the University of Minho. Other project partners was included as lecturers/trainers.

Theme and objectives

The objectives was focused on a development of the following student´s competence:

  • Deepen risk management knowledge;
  • Distinguish the different phases of Risk Management, according to ISO 31000;
  • Identify the different tools and techniques of Risk Management, according to ISO/IEC 31010;
  • Properly apply different risk management tools;
  • Develop the autonomous study;
  • Develop the search for reliable information in the OSH area of knowledge;
  • Handle interactive risk management tools;
  • Develop critical thinking;
  • Develop interpersonal skills;
  • Develop team spirit;
  • Develop networking skills;
  • Apply the acquired knowledge to real work contexts, through real problems;
  • Contact with OSH experts.

The Summer school is designed for university students of study programmes with curricular units dedicated to the OSH area from the VSB and The University of Minho (UMinho).
